The Qur'an Project

I just came across The Qur'an Project, a website which provides a number of free downloads that are sure to come in handy when writing on Islamic topics. First, there is the Saheeh International translation of the Qur'an, which is the preferred translation to use when writing articles for Al Jumuah Magazine. There are also a number of books, including Fiqh As-Sunnah, The Sealed Nectar, Great Women of Islam and other useful titles.

The Qur'an Project is a registered charity in the UK that also provides free English-language translations of the Qur'an to interested non-Muslims.

Build your Vocabulary at FreeRice.com

Here's a nifty site that allows you to build up your vocabulary and donate rice to the world's needy at the same time: FreeRice.com

For each word you get right, ten grains of rice are donated to the United Nations World Food Program. That may not seem like a lot - until you see how much has been donated so far. Would you believe 537,163,380 grains of rice as of this posting?

The vocabulary quiz is really fun, too - hard SAT-level words that really challenge your level of knowledge. Check it out, insha'Allah - but I have to warn you that it is hard to leave the site if you love words.
