Blog for Park51

Yes, that Park51.

According to this ad:
Park51, a planned community center in lower Manhattan, is looking for enthusiastic writers who can contribute to the website’s new blog.

The ideal candidate would have excellent writing skills, experience blogging or working for online publications, and have some experience working with American Muslim communities.
This is listed as a volunteer opportunity, but I would personally ask for compensation. This is a high-profile project, and the budget should be there to pay the bloggers who will play an important role in the center's overall PR strategy.

More details are available here.

Project: Sign Islam

I am reposting the information below from this site.
For more information about a specific project to benefit deaf and hearing impaired Muslims, also see Project: Sign Islam.

What is Al-Qasas: Muslim Transcription Society?

Al-Qasas a sub-group of As Sirat is an online transcription society devoted to transcribing Islamic lectures for the benefit of others.

What are our aims and objectives?
The transcription of Islamic audio lectures has many benefits and uses. Al-Qasas aims to take this to a new level by producing transcription of many lectures to suit the different needs of the people. It is also a means for our dear brothers and sisters to gain access to knowledge they wouldn’t have otherwise.

How do we aim to achieve this?
Al-Qasas will produce transcription of audio lectures in different formats as well as providing extra features to enhance the learning experience.

These include:
Fully transcribed lectures followed by a summary
Summarised lectures
Al-Qasas Action Points
Tests & Quiz’s
And more

Al-Qasas is currently in its development stage before it can be fully underway. This is an exciting and highly beneficial project that needs your help. We are in need of many volunteers to take up different roles.

Are you interested in becoming a Transcriber?

Or would you like to be a Proof Reader?

Are you a student of knowledge that has the abilty to check our transcripts for mistakes?

Do you have the know-how to create a dynamic new website for Al-Qasas? (not neccessarily a voluntary role)

Are you a person with presence on the Net and can help promote Al-Qasas?

If you would like to volunteer for Al-Qasas please email us at alqasas1{@} gmail.com

A Call to Translators

Many blog readers are undoubtedly familiar with Harun Yahya, the prolific Turkish writer who writes on scientific topics (for both children and adults) from an Islamic perspective. One of his goals is to translate and publish the whole Harun Yahya collection in every language, starting with English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Russian, Arabic, Mandarin (Chinese), Malay, Indonesian, and Urdu - and then moving on to other languages of the world. If you are interested in volunteering your translations skills to this ambitious project, then visit this page for details. This is a non-paying opportunity, but please note that Harun Yahya also does not seek financial profit for his work. To the contrary, he actually provides opportunities for others to profit through the publication and distribution of his work.

The Muslim Link

The Muslim Link is a newspaper in Ottawa, Canada that seems to rely on volunteer submissions for articles. You can read back issues on the paper's website.

There is another Muslim Link (unaffiliated with the one in Canada) in the US State of Maryland. I believe this one is a paying market, but you should confirm with the editor first before submitting your work.
