Assalamu Alaikum,

Please see scholarship opportunities below for doing internships in Washington DC.

Thanks,

Atif Moon

The Center for Global Understanding (CFGU) and The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars (TWC) are working together to increase the civic engagement of Muslim American students through its internship program.

It will be a year- round program for 10 to 12 weeks in Washington D.C. open to undergraduate and graduate Muslim American students studying in a variety of fields such as Journalism, Environment, Public Health or Public Policy to name a few.

TWC and CFGU have agreed to provide at least 50 scholarships for Muslim American students over the next two years under its TWC-CFGU initiative. Together TWC and CFGU will commit $150,000 dollars to help develop the next generation of Muslim American leaders.

Each semester, CFGU will provide scholarships for Muslim American students that intern at The Washington Center. Scholarship recipients will be chosen through a competitive process administered by CFGU and The Washington Center. This neww partnership will provide CFGU students' opportunities for civic engagement, professional achievement and leadership development. The first group of CFGU students are scheduled to participate in The Washington Center's Summer Term of 2009.

The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars is an independent, non-profit educational organization founded in 1975. Its mission is to prepare college and university students for civic leadership through experiential education. In this way, The Washington Center seeks to promote future leadership for the private, public and nonprofit sectors of society. It has served approximately 40,000 students from colleges and universities located in the United States and around the world.
