As Salaamu Alaikum

For Noorart, they don't have a link to contact them. So, I don't know how they expect us to send in any manuscripts, songs or poetry :/

As-salamu Alaykum, and thank you for taking the initiative to contact IIPH. I am not surprised to learn that they do not print books, because they are a publisher, and not a printer. Soon, insha'Allah, I will devote a short blog post to explaining the distinction.

INDEPENDENT BOOK DISTIBUTORS

http://www.bookmarket.com/distributors

Thank you kindly for this publisher's directory, its a wonderful resource. Could you add a similar list for distributors (Muslim, Independent and mainstream.) I'm going to try to paste below a wonderful resource for independent publishers from John Kremer 1001 Ways to Market Your Book. His link is immediately above.

Wali Baba

IPG is the oldest and among the best, as I understand.

BELOW IS AS MUCH AS IT ALLOWED ME TO PASTE

----

Top Independent Book Distributors
These are the most up-to-date addresses we have for the top independent bookstore distributors. Source:JohnKremer@bookmarket.com. John Kremer, author of 1001 Ways to Market Your Books
________________________________

Note: No distributor listed below is likely to take on distribution of a single POD (printed-on-demand) book. POD does not lend itself to distribution via distributors, except in the case of backlist books that are being kept in print only via POD. Frontlist books, which are the books that most benefit from distribution by a distributor, need to be produced in sufficient quantity to merit the sales efforts of one of these distributors.

SAMPLE AND REALLY GOOD COMPANY (IPG)

Independent Publishers Group,
Mark Suchomel, President, 814 N Franklin Avenue, Chicago IL 60610-3109; 312-337-0747, ext. 209; 800-888-4741; Fax: 312-337-1807. Email: suchomel@ipgbook.com. Web: http://www. ipgbook.com. Curt Matthews, CEO; Email: curt@ipgbook.com.Warehouse: 600 N Pulaski Road, Chicago IL 60624.

Founded in 1971, this company distributes for 60 book publishers as well as for 300 publishers in the Publishers Marketing Association distribution program. Discounts: 25 to 30% of net sales. IPG also serves teacher supply stores, museum stores, and garden shops as well as bookstores. They are the largest and fastest growing distributor of independently published computer titles.

Contact Carolyn Ramirez (email: carolyn@ipgbook.com) for more info. IPG's academic division, Paul & Company Publishers Consortium, sells to professors and academic libraries. In 2005, they bought Trafalgar Square Publishing, a distributor of UK publishers.
Comments: The oldest independent distributor (founded in 1971), IPG is the third largest independent distributor. They must be doing a good job, since many of their publishers have been with them for years.
“I was checking out our listing on your Top Independent Book Distributors list and wanted to clarify that IPG does not care how many titles a publisher has, but evaluates publishers on the quality and salability of a publisher's list, and the commitment to receive feedback and promote titles to the end consumer. We are very selective, but once we accept a publisher the level of service is extremely high. We sell to more accounts than any other distributor, attend more trade shows than any other distributor, and give publishers the option of using our exception PR services. Our titles are all over the Bookscan bestseller lists and we can sell a book as well as anyone in the business. We are the third largest distributor and gaining, but could easily be twice our current size if we took on everyone that wanted to work with us.” — Mark Suchomel

What is a 'style sheet' as mentioned in the Kube Publishing site?

"If you are a professional artist and are writing and illustrating a picture book or comic book, please request our style sheet for artists before submitting your manuscript."

precisiontext said...

As-salamu Alaykum,

A "style sheet" refers to the guidelines telling you how to submit the text/illustrations for consideration (or how to prepare them for publication).

I tried to have a look at Al Huda website. But I could not go to their web page.

The following message appears.

"Reported Attack Page!

This web page at www.alhudapublishers.com has been reported as an attack page and has been blocked based on your security preferences.

Attack pages try to install programs that steal private information, use your computer to attack others, or damage your system.

Some attack pages intentionally distribute harmful software, but many are compromised without the knowledge or permission of their owners."

Is anyone else having similar problems?

Does anyone know which one is the biggest publisher or may be the top3 publishers from the list given above?

I wrote to some of them any many did not reply.

Thanks.

Please update the link of International Islamic Publishing House. Their website is at:

They have invited manuscripts from authors, and the detailed guidelines are at:
http://www.iiph.com.sa/new/forAuthors.html

Hope this helps

precisiontext said...

As-salamu Alaykum,
Thank you, Umm Ibrahim. I appreciate you sharing this information with the readers of this blog.

I believe that IIPH may have two branches - one in the U.S., and one in Saudi Arabia. I will update the listing as soon as possible. It is always a good day when we can add more guidelines to the database.

Jennifer, congratulations on finishing your book. I might try Noorart (which caters heavily to Islamic schools) or Amana Publications (which publishes a number of parenting titles). Let us know how it goes, insha'Allah.

I have tried to open the link to view the list of Muslim publication houses many times over several months now, but it does not work.
Could you recommend a publication house other than ICO and Darussalam that has great international scope and publish books related to Character Education for Muslim schools?

Sincerely,
Author of Character Building course.
